Group Focus
We are interested in the field of multi-messenger and time-domain astrophysics with focus on high-energy gamma-ray transients and variable sources. In particular, we aim to understand the physical processes acting in AGN and the origin of astrophysical neutrinos. To achieve these goals, our group is using state-of-the-art theoretical models, a broad-range of multiwavelength observations of active galactic nuclei, as well as observations collected by multimessenger facilities such as the IceCube neutrino Observatory and Antares/KM3NeT among others.
The group is currently based at the University of Wuerzburg, at the Chair for Astronomy and at DESY in Zeuthen. It is primarily supported thanks to the ERC Starting grant awarded in 2020. The team is actively involved in the COSI gamma-ray space telescope, that is a forthcoming NASA mission, and the KM3NeT Collaboration.
